About Me:

I am Portland born and raised. I fell in love with the theater at a young age, and made it a priority in high school. I went to Western Oregon University to study theater, and found I had a knack for the technical side. I spent most of my college years in the theater learning everything about the Technical side of theater. I mainly focused on scenic design and construction, but did everything else at least once. I managed to get a job here at Hollywood shortly after returning from school. I started at the very bottom, and through a lot of hard work, have managed to become a Manager. I don’t do that much work in theater anymore, except when someone needs help with lights. I consider myself a bit of a jack of all trades and enjoy helping whereever I can.

What do you like most about working here:

What I enjoy the most about working at Hollywood Lights, is the constant learning I get to do. We are continually purchasing new and improved gear that lets us better help our customers. I get to then learn all about the latest and greatest bits of technology. I must become somewhat of an expert on the gear we rent, and I find that quite exciting.

Hobbies:

I really enjoy building anything and everything. It’s the one thing that I don’t get to do much of at Hollywood. I’m also a very large movie buff, there is rarely a movie I haven’t seen. I also enjoy most things that are considered nerdy, video games, board games, and card games.

Places I’ve Visited:

I honestly have never been out of the United Sates. Hopefully that will change fairly soon.

About Me:

I joined the Hollywood Lights team in 2008 as an Inventory Coordinator for Electrical Services.  Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work directly with each of our departments from organizing crews and vehicles to assisting with event load ins and load outs onsite.  I was involved in a variety of events ranging from rental setups to full size outdoor festivals and all the unique events in between.  As the Event Services Manager, I now work with a diverse team of Lead Technicians to serve our wide-range of events throughout the year.

What I like most about working here:

I like the people I get to work with day in and day out.  This includes the diverse customers and vendors I work with on each event.

Hobbies:

I like to play basketball, fish, day hikes and spending time with my family.

Places I’ve Visited:

I’ve been to Hawaii, Vancouver B.C., up and down both Interstate 5 and Hwy 101 from Washington to California, and Vegas.

About Me:

Service to others is very important to me.  Becoming an electrician was not one of my ideas for a job when I was younger.  I tried many different types of jobs.  When I found myself working as a material handler, almost 20 years ago, I knew I found what I wanted to do.

Over the next 15 plus years I worked for a number of companies, learning from many different mentors.  Starting out on large construction projects, going into industrial, commercial and residential lighting and finally into becoming a service electrician.

For five years, I feel like I really learned all the basics.  The problem was it all started to feel like it was boring.  When I came to Hollywood Lights, Inc., I discovered all of these new and exciting opportunities to create.

So, now with the help of my team, we can go out and do service calls at a residence all the way up to renovating an entire theater.  While there is repetition sometimes in what we do there is so much more variety.  When I came to Hollywood Lights, Inc., I knew it was going to be a challenge and after almost 3 years I still feel like I have only tapped into just the smallest amount of what there is to learn.  Who am I, I am a Master Electrician in Washington, a Supervising Electrician in Oregon, a Journeyman in both Washington and Oregon and Certified Electrical Inspector.  But, really at the end of the day those things don’t matter because what I am really is a member of a great team at Hollywood Lights, Inc.

Now, when I am not doing Hollywood Lights, Inc. things I am spending time with my most amazing family.  They are fun to hang out with.  Although, we are all going in different directions most of the time we still have dinner together and check in with each other so we can stay connected.

What I like most about working here:

The diversity of the company is what I like most about working here.  The skill set and knowledge found among my colleagues. Every day is an adventure. We go places and we are not afraid to do new things.

Hobbies:

1940’s Home Remodeling and Biking

Places I’ve visited:

About Me:

I was born and raised in Portland. I ended up going to school in Los Angeles area at Whittier College. I majored in Theater, with a focus on tech. My focus led me down the path of sound engineering for live events, studio work and TV/Movie post production. I really enjoyed the time I spent working in the entertainment industry. Throughout all of the various jobs I’ve held over the years, I was happiest working in the entertainment industry. I have always enjoyed sales and when the opportunity arose here at Hollywood Lights I jumped at it.

What I like most about working here:

I think my most favorite thing about this job is all of the amazing projects I get the opportunity to work on. They are always full of different challenges. It is great to have the support of the different department teams to help navigate through obstacles. The people I get to work with everyday are awesome! They keep me sane when things get insane.

Hobbies:

I enjoy the outdoors and I am always looking for new places to explore. I try to ride my motorcycles as much as the weather will allow. I like to cook, but not clean-up.  I try and relax as much as possible and spend time with my family and friends.

About Me:

I had ideas about working at Mission Control (NASA) when I was a kid, but then discovered lighting consoles.  I started lighting stages professionally in 1979, which led to learning about electrical work for live events.  I joined IATSE Local 28 (Stagehands) and earned an Oregon Journeyman Stage electrical license.  I owned Superior Stage Lighting from 1984 to 1995, and then joined Hollywood Lights.  Earned an Oregon Limited Maintenance electrical license.

I have a wonderful wife and two awesome sons.  My oldest has a technical theatre degree from University of Montana and his younger brother just started in technical theatre at Pacific University.  Both have been known to make appearances on the staff here at Hollywood Lights.  Show biz is in our blood.

What I like most about working here:

I love solving technical challenges, such that the customer’s ideas and visions can become reality, and it can be easier than they expected.  Our customers produce some amazing events and it is a pleasure to be part of their team.
